Private consultation with your physician: This will include a discussion with the physician as to what symptoms if any you are experiencing and any concerns you might have, an appropriate comprehensive phyical examination as well as counseling on various STD's. The doctor will use this information to suggest appropriate STD testing and any treatment when necessary. The fee for this consultation is $125.00-150.00.

Chlamydia and Gonorrhea cultures: The doctor obtains a sample from the ladies cervix or from the male urethra by gently placing a cotton tip q-tip like probe against the cervix or the urethra. Treatment of these infections reduces risks intrauterine infections and Pelvic Inflamatory Disease (PID) which can lead to sterility.

Chlamydia and Gonorrhea, Amplified method: This test is performed on urine samples obtained from men and woman.

HIV antibody blood test, with Westernblot confirmation if positive: This test is performed on a blood sample. It consists of an initial screening test known as a enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). If this test shows a reaction, the test is repeated on the same blood sample. If the blood sample again shows a reaction a confirmatory test known as Westernblot is performed. If this confirmatory test is done there will be an additional charge.

HIV RNA PCR Polymerase chain reaction: This test is performed on a blood sample and looks for HIV genetic information. This test can detect the virus even in someone recently infected with HIV.

OraQuick HIV test: The OraQuick HIV test checks for antibodies to the HIV virus. A cotton tip applicator similar to a Q-tip is used to take a sample from inside the patient's mouth and tested in the doctor's office. Results are available in 20 minutes. This is a screening test and like all other screening tests a positive result needs to be confirmed by additional testing. Results of this test can be read in as little as 20 minutes. The test correctly identifies 99% of people infected with the HIV virus. ]

Pap smear ThinPrep liquid based method: MDSTD's doctors perform a better Pap Smear than the conventional Pap Smear. This test is called the ThinPrep. The patient can not tell the difference between traditional Pap Smears and the ThinPrep as collection methods are essentially the same. The difference is in the way the sample is handled after it is obtained from the patient. The ThinPrep® Pap Test is significantly more effective than the conventional Pap smear for the detection of abnormalities of the cervix. The ThinPrep Pap Test improved the detection of precancerous lesions by 65% in screening populations and 6% in high-risk populations when compared with the conventional Pap smear. Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers among women and is caused by Human Papiloma Virus (HPV). HPV  is a sexually transmitted disease. If detected early cervical cancer is almost always curable. The ThinPrep Pap Smear is much better than the conventional Pap Smear at detecting abnormalities before cancer begins.

ThinPrep Liquid based Pap Test plus HPV DNA testing: MDSTD's doctors also offer this combined test for even better detection of Pap smear abnormalities. The HPV test is performed on the same sample that is taken to perform the Pap smear and does not cause any additional discomfort on the patient. The HPV DNA test checks for High Risk Viruses that have been detected in 99.7% of all cervical cancer patients. The information obtained from this test can help your doctor determine how frequently Pap smears are needed and if any additional diagnostic studies are required.

Herpes Simplex Culture with Typing: This test is performed when the patient has active lesions. A cotton tip applicator similar to a Q-tip is gently placed on the lesion to obtain a speciman.

Bacterial Vaginosis Panel: This test checks for Trichomonas, G. Vaginalis and Candida (yeast). A cotton tip applicator similar to a Q-tip  is placed against the cervix to obtain a sample. These three organisms are responsible for 90% of all vaginal infections. Treatment of these infections reduces risks of miscarriages in pregnancy, premature births, intrauterine infections and Pelvic Inflamatory Disease (PID) which can lead to sterility. ANY inflamation in the vaginal area can cause small breaks in the skin and drastically increase your risk of acquiring other serious STD's.

Syphilis RPR: A blood test called RPR is used to test for syphillis. Shortly after an infection with Syphilis the body produces antibodies that are detected by this test. The cost of this test is $45.00.

Crabs are caused by an insect called Pediculosis Pubis. Patients usually complain of itching in the pubic region. Allthough this condition does not pose a serious health threat they are irritating, contagious and indicate a risk for other STD's.

Hepatitis Profile A, B and C: This is a comprehensive Hepatitis Profile testing for recent and past infection with the three most common viruses causing Hepatitis. Some patients never experience any symptoms when they contract the disease so you may well become infected without knowing it. The most common symptoms in adults with all types of hepatitis are fatigue, tiredness, loss of appetite, abdominal discomfort, dark urine, clay-colored stools and slight yellowing of the skin. Some of these viruses are known to cause liver cancer and early detection is very important.

Herpes Titre Types 1 and 2 IGG and IGM antibody test:
